Ielts listening multiple choice questions | Brownstone Ielts Academy

Introduction

The listening section of the IELTS is an important part of the test. It’s where you’ll get the most marks, so it’s vital that you do well in this area.

Multiple choice

Multiple choice questions

These are the most common type of question on IELTS, with up to four correct answers. You must choose the best answer from those given, although you can write down more than one if necessary. The question may be about a specific topic or it could ask you about something that happened in class or elsewhere during the past week.

In general, there is no wrong answer; however, you should try not to guess unnecessarily as this can lead to careless errors that will affect your score negatively (see below).

Multiple-choice questions may have up to four possible answers.

Multiple-choice questions may have up to four possible answers. The answer choices are usually A, B, C or D.

The best way to answer a multiple choice question is by selecting one of the four options in order to complete the text:

Choice A – This is not strictly correct although it could be used as an alternative if you don’t know what else would make sense.

Choice B – This makes sense and is grammatically correct but doesn’t quite fit with what you heard from your teacher; for example if he was talking about how many people went into space during his lifetime then he would probably say “a lot” rather than “many”.

Choice C – This sounds good because it’s close enough based on what you’ve learned so far but there could still be some issues with this answer; maybe he meant something like “only few”, which isn’t really right either because that wouldn’t make sense anyway!

It is not far from her university so she can walk there in fifteen minutes, and it only takes twenty minutes by bus to get into town to go shopping!

She has a car because she lives in the country, but she doesn’t like driving on the roads because they’re too busy.

Listen to a conversation between two students about their accommodation and do the exercises to practise and improve your listening skills.

Listen to the conversation.

You should listen to the conversation again if you need to, and also on your smartphone or tablet if possible.

He’s worried that his parents might find out he smokes.

C. He wants a room where he can study in peace.

The passage is about a man who wants a room where he can study in peace.

He wants a room where he can study in peace.

He wants a quiet room.

He also wants to concentrate, which means that he needs quiet surroundings and no distractions (or at least not many). In addition, if you’re going to be doing any homework or studying late at night, then it’s better if there isn’t much traffic outside your window so that people won’t bother you while trying to sleep or work on their own projects.

The landlady is too friendly.

The landlady is too strict.

The landlady is too old.

B. The house is old-fashioned, so nothing breaks down!

B. The house is old-fashioned, so nothing breaks down!

This question is about the house that you are living in. In this case, there are two answers for this question: A and B.

Answer A – You can hear some noise from outside where people are walking by or cars driving by or something like that but it’s not too loud and we don’t have any problems with those things happening at night when everyone goes home after school because we live on a busy street where lots of traffic goes past us every day (but not too much).

C. The bathroom isn’t very big, but it’s very clean and tidy.

The bathroom is small, but it’s very clean and tidy. It’s also clean with low levels of dust, which means that you would have to be careful when cleaning up after yourself.

The landlady keeps this bathroom very clean by making sure there are no signs of dirt or filth anywhere in the room or on the floor. She also makes sure she keeps all surfaces free from any sort of spillages or stains while cooking meals at home; if you see any signs of food being splattered around your house then this may indicate that someone has been eating off-puttingly messy during their mealtime!

D. There aren’t many students living there at the moment, so it’s really quiet!

A. The house is empty, and even though it’s not a vacation home, there aren’t many students living there at the moment. It’s really quiet!

B. The house is empty and no one else lives there but me; I’m alone in my room writing this essay right now!

She lives near to her university, and it’s not far from town either; she can walk there in fifteen minutes, but it only takes twenty minutes by bus to get into town to go shopping.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is important to remember that the IELTS listening exam is not a test of your grammar or vocabulary. Instead, you need to be able to understand what is being said and make sense of it as well as possible. This will help with both oral and written tasks in all sections except Listening Reading which requires no English language skills at all (although there may be some questions on this section which require an understanding of linguistics).
