Nowadays children spend more time playing computer games than doing sports. Why is it happening? Does it have a positive or negative effect on their development?
The virtual world has completely revolutionized our perspective towards life. In the era of globalisation and technology all spheres of life has changed dramatically and playing computer games is also not an exception. Today’s children are most interested in playing video games or sitting hours on the play-stations than playing outdoor games. This essay will discuss why children are spending most of their momentous time on computer games and will also argue why this is a negative elongation by highlighting reasons to justify it.
The modernization has completely revolutionized our mindset to sustain our livelihood. Unlike the old times, when parks and greenery defined the beauty of the place, urbanization has led to shortage of such places for the children. Due to inaccessible resources, children prefer easy games within their reach. Video games have provided them companionship to break the monotony of the usual routine. Not only such games enhance hand-eye coordination in some kids, but also inculcate problem solving attitude in them.
However, on the other side of the coin, it is wise apt saying” All work and no play makes jack a dull boy”. Children are so glued and accustomed to games online, they tend to lose sense of distinction between real and virtual world. Also, it poses threat to their lifestyle changes which further lead to obesity, hypertension and even vision problems which are quiet ubiquitous in adolescent as children do not pay heed to their own health. These games also make children wards violent as they try to imitate their action in their real world.
To conclude, as excess of everything is bad. parents should allow children pay video games to a certain extent. However, the need of physical sports should also be created in children for their holistic development.
